Hi All!
Well. . .the United Way / Community Health Charities Annual Meeting was held a few weeks ago. And. . . the day after that meeting occurs . . .the new campaign begins. So, we're really almost a month into the 2009 season.
The 2009 Campaign Cabinet had their 1st meeting in late March. One of the big take aways was that the 2009 campaign could be a challenging one. Global recession, stock market tanking, record high unemployment. . . the economic situation is a bit, well . . . the word bleak comes to mind. And what happens in challenging times? The need and demand on United Way services increases. Not to sound all doom and gloom, but we have our work cut out for us.
That said. . . it isn't all dark clouds. We raised $5,600,000 last year. And we'll raise even more this year. How will we do that? By working together. By staying focused on the needs of our community, and getting that message to our neighbors and co-workers. We'll do it by building on our core base of supporters. We'll do it with pledge forms, and bake sales, and American Idol and Hot Dog Eating Contests. We'll be creative, and we'll have some fun while doing it.
I look forward to working with everyone again this year. Thanks so much for your continued support of United Way!
Dave
